A Word from the Pastor

12/30/2014 11:24

I want to thank you all for your efforts to make this year’s Advent season special.  We were able to be the hands and feet of Jesus by feeding those who were hungry, providing clothing and gifts, helping to pay bills, purchasing medications, building a wheel chair ramp, sending money to help build schools in Sudan, caroling and visiting some of our members that are shut-in, providing fruit baskets, and even helping someone go home for Christmas.  All this in addition to keeping up our ‘regular’ outreach ministries intact!

We worshipped together learning more about the Adventure of Christmas through the hanging of the greens, the lighting of the Advent candles each week with the children, the “Second Shepherd’s Play”, our Cantata, Christmas Eve Communion and our special music service, and times of fellowship together.  All of that, in addition to being able to study the Scriptures concerning the arrival of our Savior during Sunday morning worship and Wednesday evening studies.  We even had a wedding.

God has blessed us richly in 2014 and He will continue to do so as long as we continue to seek Him, as the Magi did so long ago, and try to find ways to share His love in 2015.  This is the time of year that people make “resolutions” to do things to make the new year better than the last.  I challenge you to think of how you can stretch yourself to be more like Jesus this coming year.  Our reading plan for the year is to study the Psalms together.  Not just to read them, but to study them and write them on our hearts.  Memorize a passage of scripture each week to help you along this journey.  Come back to, or start attending Sunday school, come to our afternoon worship on Sundays.  Commit to helping at the Kitchen of Hope or with Wednesday night out.  Join the choir.  Set aside a time of daily devotion and prayer.  There are so many ways we can grow closer to God.  Seek Him.

In His grip ~ Craig
